Cats arnt like dogs very true - but if you cant be responsible for your cat and know where it is then thats not really responsible ownership

The only way of doing that is to NEVER let the cat out of the house

so its alright to let it poo all over someones garden ?
and terrorise there small animals ?

Unfortunately there is no way you can control a cat like you can a dog
I had one cat which was a real hunter, dead stuff on the mat every morning so I put a collar with a bell on him. This was a elasticated collar for a cat, I found him slowly strangling on the fence - the collar had snagged and twisted 
If I hadn't found him when I did he would have died.
Another cat I had caught Swifts in mid air by launching himself off the shed roof.

some of those sound a bit dangerous to a cat - we don't get an visitors in our back garden because of the four dogs so we okay on this frnt. Althought when we first moved in i can down stairs and found the six dinner grey one asleep on the bay window. The window had been left open so he'd gotten in through there - lets just say benji and luciw ere not happy

A friend down the road here has five cats living at the bottom of their garden she puts moth balls and orange peel on the wall, and she has just found the garden spray thing that shoots a jet of water she says thats fantasic hasn't seen any of the cats since she brought that gadget and her birds are now safe and she can feed them again

my nans got this thing that makes a sound - keeps the cats away, but first time Honey walked past it she nearly poohed herself- guess it spooked her too  doesnt bother her now and dont think Fritz ever even noticed it but it do keep the cats away.

I don't hate cats, i really don't but.... sounds dangerous to cats? My foot  . Keep the cat in the house or build sort of a vollière to let it out but on your own property. Why do i have to clean up someone elses pet's sh.t? I don't let my dogs do that in someone elses garden either. For years i tried it the nice way, but now if a cat enters my property, i send the boys after it. If cat messes anything up, it gets shot by my neighbour.
Why? Because all of the times that my chicks got killed, torn and shred to pieces. Not because the damne cat was hungry, but just for fun. Finding your barn and grass here and there covered with dead chicks and blood is not fun  . Chickens and Turkeys running around like crazy, trying to find their little ones, tapping their beek agains their youngens to see if they still alive  ..... all because someone else's animal that was NOT invited on my property.....
If it is a wild animal than i can live with it. About every summer 2 hawks comes to steal a few chickens. Think they got a nest than here nearby. But she a wild animal, and has to feed. They not being fed, they have to survive on their own and don't kill for fun. They come, cirkle, pick one and leave. That is nature.
No, i'm done with my kids crying over and my stock going crazy over babychicks by someone elses pet.

No cats are not the only animals that kill for fun, there is a far worse mammal - Humans

Not the only one, no. Ferrets can be a pest too. They steal eggs, kill here and there in the proces  , can be mean little b.ggers. Hedgehogs eat eggs aswel, specially the once that were bred on for a few days but don't do much else, except for perhaps carying deseas and ticks. Squirrels steal eggs too. Foxes... are around here, but didn't have 1 bothering me yet. And they endangeroud species in Belgium. Got a wild animal bothering you, make a phonecall and they come to trap it, and take it away.
My problems with occational visiting cats is that they are not wild animals, but someone elses pet. They should not be here. They should be at their own place. I refuse to pay for something to keep them out. They are not my pets. I find it pet's owners responsibility to find ways to keep his pet at home himself. I don't mind cats around if they behave, but if they don't and keep coming back i'll trap them. If they don't wear a tag or have a tatoo than.....  Finders keepers.

generally speaking i would say an animal killing and leaving the "kill" (or cutting away expensive parts and ditching the rest) is killing for 'entertainment/profit' (not sure they know about fun?) if its killing and carting it off to devour every little morsel then its probably hungry ?

we have lurchers round here that kill squirrels and rabbits but leave them dead "for fun" so dogs are sometimes guilty too.
