Cannot see why this is news, it has been in the UK for some considerable time, although perhaps not as far north as kilt country.

ditto SP - has been around for ages, in the midlands for at least 3yrs - unless it's just in scottish news because it hasn't been there before so people oop north get informed about it. :)

It's all well & good the vets telling people what sypmtoms to look out for AFTER they get infected, but how do we actually prevent our dogs getting it in the first place? Slugs & snails are absolutely everywhere so you can't exactly avoid them.  :-\

only way i know of is regular use of chemical wormers.  :-\  might be some other way?  ???

i wonder if you could teach your dog to 'leave' all slugs and snails with training? and that's something i wouldn't know the answer to cos i can't train for tuppence.  :D

that's the dirofilaria nick though, this is the angiostrongylus.  :) unless there was stuff about angiostrongylus further down - sorry, can't remember.  :-*

though have just had a thought - regular faecal tests to look for larvae might be a way of monitoring to make sure your dog is clear?

and smack the diva's bottom?!  :o :o :o
