Picking up the post!

Hey everyone! Ash and I have been discussing Meg's need to rip up the post that comes through the door! If we are here she barks but doesn't touch it! If we are out the generally she shreds some (not all) of the mail! Postcards are her fave!!

Sooooo.... We thought we could turn the post into a positive thing! We want to teach her to pick it up and put it on the coffee table. obviously we would start easy - touching an envelope and progess to picking up the envelope etc! Any tips on this would be gratefully recieved!

But.....are we setting ourselves up for trouble! How eventually will we get her to do it when we out? Will the postman be her cue? will she end up sitting and waiting for the postman? Will she be disappointed if we don't get any mail!!!!!! Thought this might also help with her door manners as if she is waiting for the post to come through the door she may wait nice! Or......will she have the postmans fingers off in anticipation!

A stranger drops something strange through the letter box!!

That was fun, but it wasn't very tasty!! Does she think the post is food or is different and it wasn't here when mum went out so she won;t want it-i'll eat it!!

Maybe she feels she needs to defend the house from nasty postman?

Must kill, eat the post before Ollie does! (who would incidently be cowering in the corner saying-"you not supposed to do that")?

Ok-perhaps she thinks "I bark at postman and he leaves!!!" Success!! This post smells of loads of people.... Guess I need to work on door manners-which we are miles better with (havent got to the door knocking stage yet) So does she need desensitizing? my head hurts Bev! I'm opening wine now......
