I just feel very sad for the boy who died and his teenage brother.  I am thinking that a fair few fatal attacks seem to happen when it is not the immediate family caring for the children.  Maybe owners need to be more aware that their dogs may act differently when "the management" as it were, are not around?

I also wonder why the BBC are constantly saying "establish the breed" or "a banned breed" - i thought it was 'types' that were banned which I would have thought now the police have shot the evidence would be impossible to tell as I always believed that 'type' assessments were based on appearance and general behaviour ?  There are no details of how the child was behaving and general ownership - surely these have a great deal of effect (perhaps moreso) than 'breed' ??
