hydrotherapy for puppies
« on: February 11, 2010, 05:48:37 PM »
is hydrotherapy a safe exercise for younger puppies? just bumped into a trainer who was saying she recommends this in her puppy classes as its non weight bearing exercise for a full of beans puppy.
just wondering what others thought?
to me it seems a good idea to me as it shouldnt impact on growth plates and joints and if anything will be good as will build up muscle - but what would be the youngest age that you would recommend?

Don't see the point walking makes muscle if they are exercised as per daily allowance for age muscle will build slowly as muscle should  :ok:

I agree with Val, IMHO taking a pup swimming in a pool is a bit of overkill. If the weather was warm I would be more likely to take a pup to a safe lake, river, stream etc to build confidence in going in and out of water before graduating to pool.  It would be expensive too as most slots are 30 mins and 30 mins for a puppy is WAY too much in any case
