Ok, am looking for some advice.

2 weeks ago Jess had an episode so to speak, we were at a workshop and she just went downhill, gums went white, breathing rate was up, pulse rate was normal. Got her home thinking it may have been too stressful for her and she seemed better. Her pulse was very low, especially on sunday when it as at 40 beats per minute at one stage, so got her into the vets on Monday.

By this time she showed no clinical signs whatsoever, gums were pink and healthy, heart rate was fine,etc. For piece of mind the vet took a blood sample. When he had shaved off her fur on her left side, we noticed that her jugular vein was visibly pulsating and he was unable to get a sample so he took a sample from the right side.

Blood tests have shown nothing out of the ordinary, expect she has a lower than average white blood count. Since then she has been ok, but I had noticed that whereever she lay, there was always a wet patch where her mouth was.

Today, she was suddenly coughing, went out, gums white, she shaking, etc. Phone vets, get her up there and she fine again.

He thinks it may be her heart failing and wants me to decide on whether to wait to see if she has another episode and when she does, get her up to him, have a chest xray done, another blood test, etc.

Am looking for some guidance/help/suggestions? please!

What did he test for with the bloods?
Seems strange breathing rate up but pulse normal
How is she in herself?

Have spoken to Bev, but she not been well.

Bloods were done to rule out infection/cancers/etc

Low white blood count is often a sign of overwhelming viral infections, exposure to toxins, bone marrow abnormalities, or severe infections with sepsis.
If I was having a heart checked I would go to a vet that has qualification in cardiology.
Sorry Izzie but this is not right you need an answer NOT wait until the next time it could well be a heart problem has he ruled out heart worm?

No, hadnt thought about that Val. He said the low count wasnt low enough to be of any worry.

I have to get her notes from the old vets, as we been waiting for them for a while, so now I have to go and ask for them.

She was under Thomas Schawltz at House and Jackson and it did cross my mind as to whether to ring them up for an appointment

He did the test for me, if it comes back negative then we agreed to do an Xray and he going to get in touch with Cardio vet as well.

She bled very easily, but she been very very quiet today, not herself at all didnt even want to go out for a walk

A Cardio vet will scan or MRI a heart can't see why your vet doesn't just send you straight to the main man/woman.

Oh Izz..... wishing Jess many good wishes. Can not give you or her much else  .... but i hope they find out what is wrong with her soon and get it fixed.

I dont either, but they are contacting the cardio vet Jess originally saw, so will see what the results come back before suggesting they refer her back to him.

Thanks D, I hope so too, she not been bothered about going for walks, today she asked for a walk, but could only do about 10 mins before she was looking tired

Izzie has she picked up a tick lately? or has she got any pink spots anywhere thinking Lymes Disease

No ticks Val, last time she had a tick was last April time

she had some some sort of infection on her bits a few weeks back, but no pink spots
