I have a 8 month old blue staffordshire bull terrier and have recently started feeding him tripe in order to build him up. I was wondering whether any1 else new other safe and practical ways to build up muscle etc. Thanks.

He wont be mature until 2 years old - at 8 months i wouldnt be worrying too much just continue to feed him as needed and exercise in moderation - to much you will overdo it.

Why the need to get muscle on him quickly at such a young age?

Why do you think feeding tripe will build muscle?

Do you know  what foods buildsmuscle?

It is protein so any source of complete protein will help in muscle development.

However, the dog is a pup, I don't know of any athletic coach who devises a special diet to build up muscles in children.

Adult dogs and humans are of course something else.  And first of all you would decide what sort of muscle you wanted to develop.  For example are you building muscles for stamina, strength, skills or speed or all 4?

Then you would devise an exercise regime which helped develop muscles appropriately so that for example you were not developing some muscles at the expense of others which could, in some situations, trigger a health problem by increasing strain on for example the cruciate ligaments.

This regime would include differing exercises to develop the 4 s as above to include interval training and rest days, alongside the appropriate nutrition with supplements if appropriate.

But not until the dog has finished maturing and the growth plates had fused etc etc.

Food alone will only make your dog overweight.
