a girnal is the chest to keep the oats in...a mouse leaving it with a tear drop in his eye means it was empty

a penny a pinch of tea and a bit of coal, wood or peat 
ami dug ours up last year...brought the tea bag and coal back indoors haha reckon thats why i had a shite year

Basically means hope for a new year - that when life is at is best it is the worst it is ever going to get - that you always have health and food and be happy - note there is no mention of wealth!!! 

Health and your needs being met should be enough for us to be happy.  But we are a greedy nation so always want more.

2011 taught me to be grateful for everything you have and everyone you hold dear - I may not have all I want but I always have enough for my needs to be met.  I have a wonderful husband and some wonderful friends and a loving close relationship with the joy of my life James (and of course last but not least - my wonderful pooch)  A happy pooch is a happy mudge.

Happy New Year everyone - here's to health and happiness  and for the giving and receiving of support when we need it
