well I can only think of two things and one is I’m uncertain about.

The first and best reason I can think of is that this is some kind of resource guarding (possessiveness).

The other explanation (which I’m no so sure of) is that the dog associates a visitor leaving with something bad happening like the pack manager leaving with visitor.

Dog happy to let guest into the house but when they go to leave they growl or body block so the guest can’t leave 😉

One of our old dogs let the insurance man in the house let him take the money then when he went to leave growled and wouldn’t let him out of the door.

I would say resource guarding or they regard the guest as a new pack member and won’t let the pack split up. Fear based?

    Is visitor leaving alone?
What are other members of household doing when visitor leaving?
Is it with this visitor or all visitors?

What is the visitor being fed?
    Do you know visitor’s surname?
Do you know visitor’s background  :canadian: :butt:  sorry couldnt resist  :tease:

If its Oban then its most likely

    – go outside to check on what the boys are doing
    – come back to tell me they are playing with the remote control car
    – the not Joe’s mum is getting up to leave
    – escort her to her car
    – check on boys again
    – give boys kisses
    – jump in other boys mums car and check for sweeties
    – get comfy with other boy in car
    – get told to get out and lie down

is that what you meant lol
