Lurcher Play Time!
« on: May 18, 2009, 09:45:29 AM »
I am a novice dog owner with 2 Lurcher rescue dogs - of course, no history with the dogs.  The 2 year old girl, Beauty, is charged with energy and will throw and chase toys on her own, dig in the sand pit, play chase with her companion etc however, she continually brings us toys in her mouth, doesn't want you to take it and play with her but runs back to her basket and sits with it, usually under her jaw.  She does not seem to want you to take it and play chase but does appear to want something, unknown to us.  If you walk away she does it again, and goes back to her basket.  Other than stand there giving her encouraging words and strokes, does anyone know what she might want from us?  We so want her to play with us so that we can play in the fields however she looks at us as if we are mad when we throw a ball or try encouraging her to run and play!  Marge

Have you tried to get her to swap the toy for a treat or another toy?

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away

tri 'n snatch it bonnie girl
