I have been doing a little bit of doggy holiday home for clients of a friend of mine who for personal reasons cannot offer this service at the mo. Just wondering your opinions on cancellation fees? I had a client cancel a 4 day stay with me just a couple of hours before arrival time. I had turned down other jobs because of looking after this dog so I said a 50% cancellation fee would be charged. However thinking about it is this too much? I feel it is a little too high so just wondered if anyone has any ideas? The owner’s reaction was not good when i said 50%! would 25% be more reasonsable?
Surely this should have been set out in your terms and conditions when booking the dog in so that both you and the client have agreed well in advance?
Presumably you have a contract with your clients, where all the T & C are set out so there is no room for misunderstanding and so that neither of you will be in jeopardy of being sued?
