He has to have 4 steroid’s today and 2 tommorrow,he has to go back to the vet’s Wednesday so I will see what they advise,The swelling hasn’t gone down but there are no blood blister’s this morning,he’s still having trouble eating so he’s still on purreed chicken porridge

If he picked the toad up then he may well have a sore inside to his mouth as well as the outside, make sure he’s managing to drink thats more important than food.
As for the steroids the vet has just given him a boost with them if you are on two today they are already being reduced

Poor Travis sorry I was not around it sound like it’s the toad.
Common toads secrete an irritant substance from their skin it’s their defence against preditors.
Little known fact is hedgehogs chew toad skins to extract venom from the paratoid glands. They then lick their spines with the saliva-venom mixture. Experiments with human volunteers prove that the venomanointed spines are much more painful and irritating than clean ones.

He seems a little brighter this evening, just got back from a quick offlead run with Paul,Paul was a little concerned that his stool’s were a little softer than normal, but I expect it’s because of the antibiotic’s and that he hasn’t had any bones for 2 days 🙂

His stools will be because of not having his normal diet ,the poison, the antibiotics, and the stress he will get back to normal with time
